‘Schoolgirl’ is the latest single from Annie Taylor. The band have designed something that simultaneously feels like a catchy offering from a 90s band that would feel at home on a teen movie soundtrack, as well as a fresh slice of contemporary indie, a la Wolf Alice. Snappy guitar riffs and sharp, punky vocals are at the heart of the piece, with Gini Jungi’s lyrics looking at the excitement and uncertainty of falling in love. “Falling in love can be thrilling and confusing at the same time,” they explain. “Especially when you’re not sure what you’re about to get yourself into. It can make you feel bold and shy, excited and nervous but still, it’s a feeling that fills you up with energy and hedonism.” The band’s second album, Inner Smile, drops on July 7th, 2023. -Dan Peeke
